2. Search and open a case
From the case list, press New search.

Pick a country first
The company field stays disabled until you have chosen a country, because the search goes to that country's business register rather than to an index of all of them.
Forty countries can be searched, and the register list names each one and the registers behind it. If yours is not in the select, you can still open a case on the company: enter its details by hand.
Search by name or registration number
Type at least a few characters and results appear as you type. Searching is free, and it is free however many times you do it, so refine the query rather than settling for a near miss.

Each hit carries a badge saying why it matched: an exact id, an exact name, a partial id, or a plain name match.
The badge is the useful part of a result. An Exact ID match is the company you asked for. A plain Name match may be a namesake in the same city, a near-name, or a group's dormant shell, and the registration number and address under the name are what tell them apart.
Do not open a case on the closest one. Under the list there is a link to enter the company's details yourself and open the case anyway. Opening the wrong case costs money, and correcting it means opening a second one.
Choose the configuration
The Configuration select decides what this case has to establish: which fields the Fields tab will ask about, which figures it will go looking for in filings, and which optional sections its report will carry.

Your own configurations, plus Standard field set, which is the full registry block and the standard financial figures.
You can change your mind later: if the configuration is edited after the case was opened, the Fields tab offers an explicit Update this case. What it will not do is rewrite the case behind your back.

Confirm, and this is the paid step
Pressing Select on a result opens a confirmation that names the company, its country and id, the address on the register, and the configuration the case will be opened under.

Press Create case and you are taken to the case page. The lookup is charged once. Three separate guards keep it that way: the button disables itself while it works, the receipt for the request is unique, and nothing that merely watches a case can start another one. If enrichment does fail, retrying is an explicit act that says how many paid attempts the case has cost.
